Kristen Berardelli

Hi, I’m so happy you’re here! I’m Kristen, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist working under the supervision of Jodi Abramowitz, PhD. I’m excited to partner with you on your journey of growth and healing.

I believe that at the core of human nature is the deep need to be in relationships—to be seen, known, and connected. With training in Marriage & Family Therapy, I view each individual as part of a system of relationships that influence thoughts and behaviors. This includes your relationship with yourself, and the many different parts of you that make up who you are as a whole. We have all thought at one time or another, “a part of me feels one way, and another part feels a different way.” I work collaboratively with my clients towards the goal of a cohesive internal relationship with these different parts of themself, thereby creating space for healthier and more fulfilling relationships with others.

I became a therapist first and foremost because I love people! It is such a privilege and an honor to be invited into another person’s inner world and to be a part of their healing process. My interest in therapy began when I was a teenager navigating the emotional ups and downs of being in high school and the poor decision-making that often goes along with that. I believe that the early intervention I received from therapy at 15 changed the trajectory of my life. I feel so grateful to be able to now be in this role for other young people as they create the foundation for the rest of their lives.

I have a passion for working with children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, and behavioral addictions. I have substantial knowledge of child development and the impact of family dynamics through my years of work as a nanny, and I enjoy using art and play to engage with young clients. I also utilize methods such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and solution-focused techniques to motivate clients towards change and facilitate greater self-awareness. I have experience working in a variety of residential settings for teenagers and adults struggling with addiction and other mental health disorders.

I love the challenge of motivating an unmotivated client, working through their resistance, and getting them on the path to healing. I look forward to meeting you!
